Keloid Scars - Scarology® 3-Step Scar System

Keloid Scars and the Scarology® Difference

A keloid is an abnormal wound healing response to trauma, including cuts, scrapes or surgery. It is different than a hypertrophic (or thickened) scar in that a keloid is usually the result of excessive tissue.

Although this tissue forms to protect the injury, at times, this scar tissue can grow too much and form smooth, hard growths called keloids. Keloids are benign, but are sometimes accompanied by severe itchiness, pain, and changes in texture.

A single topical therapy alone will not reduce the appearance of a keloid scar and it is the most challenging scar type to treat successfully. Surgical revision can be costly and lead to more keloid formation. Steroid and 5FU injections have a limited use, but require administration by a physician.

Scarology® is the only scar treatment on the market with 3 unique steps that are designed to work on different aspects of a keloid to help promote healing and improve the color, texture and appearance of your scar.
